Internet dating.

Some of you may remember my little foray into internet dating a few months back. Well it has sparked some interesting email exchanges, I've met some nice folks, made a few friends and my Screenwriter and I have been dating now for almost 7 months thanks to internet dating, so I am mostly complimentary about it.

However.

Every once in a while, you get something like, "I have nice teeth and have never been to prison." in your inbox and you sit there and stare at the accompanying picture and you read that line over and over and you think....

"What??? Is it just that I am breathing and female? Is the breathing even important?[link nsfw]"

I'm so totally quitting while I'm ahead.

I'm glad you had a good experience so you can quit while you're ahead!!
I quit behind. And am grateful I'm still in one piece!

Now all caught up with you, I think... yeesh. If there is some minor demon that hasn't pooped all over you lately, I don't know which one it would be. This one, however, is just flat-out silly. I would ascribe it as much to failure of imagination as to the belief that a single woman over a certain age will take anybody. Although really now. Nice teeth?

I just broke up with my boyfriend of 5 and 1/2 years. We met on match.com. I'm not planning on doing the internet thing again. I've been advised that there are more rewarding ways to meet people just by getting out into the real world, so I'm going to give that a try this time and see how it goes. Not that I have anything against internet dating stuff... I did have a good experience, but as you highlight here, the online dating world can be a strange place.

Debbie and I met online 10 years ago. We exchanged e-mails and phone calls for a year before we met face to face. There was a 3,000 mile safety barrier between us to temper the speed. We are both the happiest we have ever been but their are frogs in every pond. Become best friends first and the rest is easy. Sounds like you are on your way towards that already. The just breathing line sounds funny to me. I saw it from the other side. Some ladies were just ready to walk down the isle after meeting these qualifications.... I had a car and a job and not living in Mom's basement. Good teeth or jail record never came up. :)
You deserve a nice long wave of positive life happenings in whatever form they take. I hope we get to partake in a spin in together sometime soon also. Debbie & I are going to Encinitas later this morning to spin with Lori Lawson at Common Threads if you can make it. (sorry for the short notice) Have a great week end.

Run! He probably hasn't been to prison because they haven't caught him yet. You don't want to be the unwilling passenger in a high-speed flight from the law.
