My dad has made me a nostepinne!

nostepinne

I'm not sure how to wind off to get a center pull ball with this, but I think there must be a tutorial somewhere online and Google is my friend.

The STR is there for scale and also because it arrived in the mail at the same time. Grandma's Flower Garden, Tidepool and Undertoe. I'm not sure I'm nutty about Undertoe. I may trade it. I may not. I'm going to live with it for a while and see how I feel. I am absoschmutely in LOVE with Tidepool, though.

also, your daily kittens.

"This is a horrible house for kittens." they seemed to say. "We are forced to eat organic chicken livers for dinner, sleep upon cushions and choke down dry Alaskan salmon treats. It's awful. Save us."

Oh, Rainy! I love love love your dad's nostepinne. And YES you can learn to use it online...I have one made by Shelly's husband (of Knitting and Praying) and I love it! (And I'm off to look at that Undertoe. I was thinking those were colors I'd like, but I haven't been on STR's site in a bit. We might be able to "make a trade."
((((hugs))))

Nostepinne baby! Whenever I need a Nostepinne I'm forced to use my #15 needles (yes it's possible to NEED a nostepinne). They're pretty easy to use, and I'm sure you'll figure it out no problem.

The woman who taught me said that they were a traditional wedding gift in Norway, beautifully carved I'm sure, but nothing says "make me some sweaters woman" like a ball winder.

And I'm sure you know this but if you wind your spun singles centerpull style then you can ply from both ends with no waste.
